I was stuck in the basement when I wanted a table upstairs in the light, I was forgotten buy the staff, and when I finally got my meal they brought my started and my entree to me at the same time. Then I had to wait for my check for ages. The acoustics in the basement were awful. So what was supposed to be a peaceful, lazy, mid-afternoon meal left me instead stressed, ill fed and with a lot less money in my bag.gretchenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15431184802491272055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-44574992682052257822012-03-16T10:54:35.360+00:002012-03-16T10:54:35.360+00:00I visited Jamie's Italian in Canary Wharf (whi...I visited Jamie's Italian in Canary Wharf (which is local to me) recently but can't tell you what the food was like: I had to leave almost immediately due to the incredibly terrible music being played there!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-50991586787686236162012-03-14T23:38:09.483+00:002012-03-14T23:38:09.483+00:00'1 Funky Chips''1 Funky Chips'Douglashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11833795221091801883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-71086508868155811312012-03-14T21:46:25.985+00:002012-03-14T21:46:25.985+00:00I agree with Becci about the one in Brighton not b...I agree with Becci about the one in Brighton not being that bad but I went soon after it had opened so think they made more of an effort!

Chris where have you eaten in Brighton?! Northern Snippet's smashing post (http://thepublandlady.blogspot.com/2010/08/people-love-bad-food.html) says it all. Some of us will gravitate to independents caring about and serving good food, others will gravitate to somewhere with a familiar logo where they know exactly what mediocrity they can expect. : )Matthewhttp://saltyplums.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-5191029561636349082012-03-14T14:50:12.640+00:002012-03-14T14:50:12.640+00:00Chris, you should get yourself over to Brussels. Y...Chris, you should get yourself over to Brussels. You make an interesting comment at the end of this post about High St. restaurants in the UK - generally dreadful. I couldn't agree more, but after 18 months living in Brussels I've come to realise it doesn't have to be like that - chains are unheard of, many places are family run and the quality/value is astounding. Then there's all that wonderful beer of course (and I don't mean Leffe). 2 hours on the Eurostar...what are you waiting for?AirGuitarMaestrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05820768808007062342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-37602313574101767222012-03-14T14:44:55.189+00:002012-03-14T14:44:55.189+00:00Gavin: Actually I just picked the wrong Westfield ...Gavin: Actually I just picked the wrong Westfield because I couldn't be bothered submitting the correct one, which wasn't listed.Chris Poplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02668565800857295023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-35765068365791687192012-03-14T14:44:15.028+00:002012-03-14T14:44:15.028+00:00Becci: Is it not that bad for Brighton, or just no...Becci: Is it not that bad for Brighton, or just not bad? :)

Richard: If I had found anything to like (other than the OK drinks) I would have said so - I guess I could have just been unbelievably unlucky and chosen the only 3 things on the menu they can't do, but then there's always that risk! Ditto G.Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen was OK but not superb.

I often wonder whether restaurants hit a "quality control" buffer above a certain number of covers when every dish can't be inspected on the pass.

I should say that a major plus at the Threadneedle St location is the corking Curious Lager from Chapel Down.Richard Dixonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13730386439122675730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-78636113015654577732012-03-14T13:55:49.389+00:002012-03-14T13:55:49.389+00:00The one in Brighton isn't actually that bad *d...The one in Brighton isn't actually that bad *ducks and runs for cover*Beccihttp://feedetgastro.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
