London Restaurant Map 2012

IMAGE REMOVED BY REQUEST OF TRANSPORT FOR LONDON

Just a little something I've been working on over the last few weeks. There's no particular rule for the places I've picked - some areas (Soho) are blessed with options, and some (Warren St) are a little more tricky. But I think it just about works.

Any comments/suggestions gratefully received as ever. Click the image to enlarge.

Hi Chris, well done, cool map... It must have been quite a feat to compile! I personally would remove master fish from Waterloo. Not as good as before and nt sustainable. We think change of owners. I may suggest Laughing Gravy or Baltic or maybe Skylon (only tried the grill)

This is bloody fab! But being the sad pedant that I am, I have one swap of location suggestion to make. Tapas Brindisa and Jose should swap places, as the former is on the doorstep of London Bridge while the latter is closer to Borough tube.

What a brilliant idea! I am very impressed. Will have to start making my way around :)

Great idea Chris. Like it.

Wow, stunning work Chris! I've always loved the elegance of Beck's map, to put restaurant pit-stops is inspired! Some friends and I were actually considering doing one for the Monopoly board, but this is far more practical and useful lol! :)

This is amazing!

Ingenious! Why has no one done this before? Want one please!

I was hopeful that you had found somewhere good near Pimlico tube station but sadly Tinello is not close but on Pimlico Road and therefore nearer to Sloane Square or even Victoria. Great idea, though !

Great idea and SO pleased to see Trishna on there. Even before its Michelin fame I've been a fan.

very much enjoying the fact that I first visited what became your Bond St recommendation when it was a burger van in an industrial estate in peckham ...

Surely St John for Farringdon would be better than Burger & Lobster (which hasn't even opened yet)?

Are there any plans to make it more interactive, say, place markers become clickable and you get a list rather than just one restaurant. I guess it would have to change back to tube station names...

Ha, brilliant. But surely it would be a more interesting challenge to go a bit further out than zone 1? (says a zone 4 dweller...)

Thanks so much for this! The number of times I've attempted to find a restaurant suggestion from your blog using the search bar and wished for a map!

Very nice.

A variation on a theme is to use it for chefs. I remember seeing this in a Tatler Restaurant Guide from a million years ago. Nico, Roux, Koffmann, Raymond etc were the main lines and the chefs who work with them were the stops. I imagine Marco's stop was a pretty major intersection. Might be worth recreating for the present day. (ChefDB might help but its far from comprehensive)

This is brilliant, Chris. If you get time to expand beyond Zone 1, I would suggest Trullo for the Highbury and Islington entry -- it's very close to the station. And possibly 500 for Archway?

Anyway, fabulous post. Thanks.

MrNoodles: You could be right. I may swap them for v2.

Anonymous: I know, I know, but as you say, what the hell else to put for Pimlico??

ian h: I'm on it

Anonymous: I'd already used St John Hotel and didn't want to put it in twice. Also, B&L Farringdon opens today and is still a great restaurant!

Adam: A great idea, and yes that would be great, I just have no idea how to go about doing it.

Anon: Trullo is a good shout, and 500 as well. I'll stick them in v2.

This is brilliant, but I'm assuming Lupita is in there as a joke, right? (Alough granted, Embankment is a tricky one what with everything decent being north of Charing Cross).

Such a good foodie map. I am ready to try the restaurants I haven´t tried yet. Thanks for sharing.

Good idea. Only, Anchor & Hope is right in-between Waterloo and Southwark, nowhere near Elephant & Castle.

Oh wow, how cool!

Brilliant work. I do hope that if you expand to zone 2, The Underground Restaurant will be at Kilburn! There's sod all else after all.

theundergroundrestaurant: Working on Zone 2 now, and yes you're in for Kilburn :)

For a restaurant (close to) warren street, look no further than Terra.

Genius! Duke's for Haggerston, Mangal Okacbasi for Dalston, Trangallan for Canonbury, Trullo for H&I. Bethnal Green will be a killer though, Viajante or Brawn??

Anonymous said...

Definitely Viajante for Bethnal Green.
Honey & Co is good for Warren Street.
