Take your point on Hakkasan too :)

But yes Galvin definitely deserves a star. It was very solid French cooking and just what Michelin would appreciate, you'd think.Chris Poplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02668565800857295023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-77782522161006950992009-07-12T07:55:26.957+00:002009-07-12T07:55:26.957+00:00Great review Chris. The quote of relationship between altitude and good food comes from Mr Hayler's blog review of Galvin's.

Anyways from the sounds of your review, it seems that the cooking at Galvin's is on track to (finally) win a star this year? When I dined here a year ago, the food was fine, but underwhelming so maybe andre garett has finally settled in (he was after all a starred chef at Orrery) and got the kitchen firing on all cylinders. Think it is time the restaurant is due a revisit from me too then!!!

p/s the Greenhouse is not really a basement restaurant since the dining room is level with the long winding walkway in (or perhaps I had too many Y'quems that night to remember clearly)

p/p/s Hakkasan should also not be on the list of basement restaurants with divine food, with reference to the latter statement divine food :P Good maybe, but definitely not divine.

p/p/p/s so really you are left with Le Gavroche, and there is never a doubt there!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-37698291546414611542009-07-10T22:42:19.393+00:002009-07-10T22:42:19.393+00:00The Artisan du Chocolat choccies at end of meal ar...The Artisan du Chocolat choccies at end of meal are good enough sign of good taste on their part for me to want to go soon!

I know salted caramel, particularly liquid salted caramel, is all the rage at the moment but I think A du C have been doing them a loooong time and their spheres are FANTABULOUS!

Did you enter the comp on my blog at the moment to win some of their chocs?Kaveyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16662875905365870280noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-57705431248438149492009-07-10T16:23:30.402+00:002009-07-10T16:23:30.402+00:00Interesting - I will have to re-add it to my wishl...Interesting - I will have to re-add it to my wishlist...heard it was good from a friend but am always so suspicious of places with a big-draw feature (like you say, OXO and Coq d'Argent) - in this case the view. Guess this is the exception to the rule, happily.
