It seems to be fashionable to recoil in horror at his name just recently (in the time honoured Brit fashion of build 'em up and knock 'em down...!). I have been to GR @ Claridges 3 times and have been bowled over on all three occasions (granted, the last visit was 18 months ago). I still think the lunch set menu is some of the best value in London and the service is always great, not to mention that divine cheese trolley :)Jeannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12325204219395014329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-12530005512949251822007-11-01T12:35:00.000+00:002007-11-01T12:35:00.000+00:00Thanks AM!Yeah I was quite surprised by the Jay Ra...Thanks AM!

Yeah I was quite surprised by the Jay Rayner plug - first thing I knew about it was a friend asking how I'd got my name in the Guardian!

And I'll make you a deal - I'll try Brindisa again if you go to Claridges :)Chris Poplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02668565800857295023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-45507483535346817232007-11-01T12:29:00.000+00:002007-11-01T12:29:00.000+00:00I haven't been to Claridges but have come close a ...I haven't been to Claridges but have come close a few times. I do normally like the food at his restaurants - excellent service without embarrasing you into feeling like you're royalty, interesting slants to familiar dishes and flavors.

Congrats on your mention by Jay Rayner, btw.Annemariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13611096567139013824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-34646607244380369552007-11-01T11:28:00.000+00:002007-11-01T11:28:00.000+00:00Glad you enjoyed it Mike! Next time you have £100 to spend I can thoroughly recommend a visit to Claridges - and do find time to have a drink in the bar!Chris Poplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02668565800857295023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1588051831069283523.post-44350962914571666082007-11-01T03:02:00.000+00:002007-11-01T03:02:00.000+00:00Nice Job, not only did you make me want to go ther...Nice Job, not only did you make me want to go there, but I agree with your opinion. In the states he's more of TV star, than a real time chef. As a chef myself I can see by your pictures, and your text what a lovely dinning experience it must be at Claridges, Mayfair.
Great, Interesting Post:)Bubbahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08905640608885089650noreply@blogger.com
